A thief notices a large amount of money in a woman’s purse when she opens it to pay her cab driver. He follows her onto the train and waits for her to doze off before snatching the cash. When she wakes up, finds her purse empty, and sees that the man is the only other person in the compartment, the pickpocket’s simple robbery escalates into a crime far more serious.
